Questions before care

Local care checks

Check the names behind the care

Start with a name, not a badge on a page.

Get the clinician’s full name and role. Then ask who makes and sends any medicine discussed.

Check a care option before a visit

  1. Ask who will check your health

Write the clinician’s full name, role and licence number. The health professional assessing you is called a clinician.

MD and DO are different kinds of medical doctor; PA means physician assistant.

Telehealth lets care take place through a video call, a phone call or an online form.

For remote care while you are in Avondale, ask which Arizona licence, registration or other authority covers the visit.

Some clinicians licensed in another state may treat you remotely through Arizona’s telehealth registration.

They must meet Arizona’s registration and care rules, checked October 3, 2026.

That registration is permission for remote care, not a full Arizona licence.

  2. Use the right licence search

A medical board is the state office that licenses doctors and can take action over problems with their work.

Arizona keeps separate checks for MDs, DOs, nurses and physician assistants.

For a nurse practitioner, check the nursing licence and the extra certificate for that advanced role.

Match the name and check whether the licence is current.

If the record includes board orders, open them to read the board’s official decisions about that doctor.

Arizona’s board websites do not show the whole record, under the rule checked October 6, 2026.

A blank online record is no proof that complaints or official actions have never occurred.

  3. Name the pharmacy

Ask which pharmacy will make and send the medicine. Get that name before paying.

A pharmacy’s Arizona permit and a pharmacist’s licence are separate records, under the rules checked October 3, 2026.

For a pharmacy outside Arizona, rules checked October 3, 2026, require an Arizona permit and permission in its home state.

That Arizona permit is called a nonresident permit.

If the pharmacy search will not open, ask the Arizona Board of Pharmacy to confirm the permit.

  4. Ask what happens after the visit

Write down how to reach the clinician with questions, when the plan will be reviewed and what that review costs.

Ask what happens if a visit ends without a prescription. Ask how to cancel any recurring fee.

What to carry with you

A checked name is useful. A named pharmacy and a clear next step complete the picture.
